  11. IBM Open Power Systems Lab IBM OPEN POWER SYSTEMS LAB IBM Open Power Systems Lab has been established in the department in collaboration with IBM India in the year 2007-08. This Lab is equipped with the following infrastructure aimed to serve the student community based on the MoU signed between IBM India and NITK - Surathkal.. IBM p-Series Server Model 9131/52A – Hardware Management Console with 2 High end Power Pc’s. Each Power Pc’s consists of 4 Power PC 64 bit processors, 9216 MB RAM, Redundant SMPS, Tape storage device and HMC Firmware(for Managing Power cycling ,Maintenance and other related Administrative activities) installed with various Linux OS. The IBM Open Power System is installed in Data Centre facilities which include Precession Air-Conditioner unit, Emersion Redundant 10 KVA(x2) UPS and other accessories
